Download Announcement Batch #3

The third collection of bands to be added to the 2010 Download Festival is the biggest so far in terms of numbers, with 22 bands being confirmed at once.

Two Festival Complete Line-Ups

In the case of two of this Summer's events this week's announcements are the final ones, completing their billings for the year.

These are Rock Am Härtsfeldsee in Germany who have added Gamma Ray, Freiwild and Undertow to their Saturday line-up, and Tuska Open-Air in Finland who have complete theirs with the additions of W.A.S.P. and Crowbar.

And Some New Stuff Too

Also in the last week-and-a-bit there has been plenty of new content as well. On the videos page there are new clips from Criminal, High On Fire and Neverland, and on the reviews front the first live review of 2010 (between no less than four cancelled shows intended for review) saw Overkill bring their Killfest tour to Islington Academy, plus new releases from Armored Saint (La Raza) and Fozzy (Chasing The Grail), the re-issue of Fates Warning's (Parallels), and the debut release from Thomas Hand Chaste's new Witchfield project (Sleepless).

The Last 2006 Live Reviews

The final set of 2006 live reviews from the Jukebox archives are now online. All from shows in London, check out Porcupine Tree at the Astoria, The Answer at the Mean Fiddler, Deathstars at the Underworld, W.A.S.P. at the Astoria, Thunder at The Forum, Motörhead at Brixton Academy and Frost* at the Scala.

Festival News Starts To Slow

It's been over a week since the last update and things are clearly slowing down on the festival front everywhere except Sweden, where some 35 bands were announced over three festivals (see next post). In the last nine days there have been about as many bands confirmed across the rest Europe as there have often been in a single day over the last few months.

New Reviews And More

Plenty of site updates this week to reveal. First of all the new reviews.

Out tomorrow is the long awaited new album from High On Fire, Snakes For The Divine. Released last Monday we have the new Axel Rudi Pell live DVD One Night Live, plus the brand new albums from Mind Odyssey guitarist Dan Uhden's new project Pandea (Soylent Green), young Swiss thrashers Battalion (Underdogs) and traditional metal outfit Armour (Armour).

Slightly older, but no less relevant, a new melodic metal project featuring Megadeth bassist David Ellefson called Angels of Babylon (Kingdom of Evil), the long-overdue re-issue of both classic albums from Warrel Dane's (Nevermore) old band Sanctuary (Refuge Denied/Into The Mirror Black), and the return of "horror metal" pioneers Ripper (The Dead Have Rizen) after more than two decades.

We also have the brand new videos from Hirax, Demonica and Callejon on the videos page, and new festival pages for the following events just announced:

Tour Updates

First of all The Quireboys' steadily growing list of intimate acoustic shows supporting their new Halfpenny Dancer album are gradually being revealed. The complete listing of all of their electric and acoustic shows confirmed for 2010 so far is here.

Arch Enemy have confirmed their first ever Polish show on May 16 at the Stodola Club in Warsaw, and U.D.O. have added an extra Russian show at the Palace of Sport And Culture in Stavropol on April 13, and two shows in Belarus on May 19 in Mogilev and May 20 in Vitebsk, both at the local Ice Halls. Hard Rock Hell IV

Before the Spring version of the festival, Hammerfest, organisers have already confirmed the first acts for the fourth Hard Rock Hell, to take place on the weekend of December 3-5 at the now customary venue of Pontins holiday resort in Prestatyn, Wales.

The confirmed selection, with some more to be added this coming Friday, is:
